Kaatijiin Screenings - The Grey Line

Past Event

Put on as part of the Town of Victoria Park's Kaatijiin Screenings The Grey Line is the story of Helen’s struggle to find her place in the world.

Taken from her parents during a time when Aboriginal children were removed from their families through Government mandated policy, Helen was raised by a middle-class family in the suburbs of Perth and believed she was their biological daughter until the age of 14.

Despite being raised by a very loving foster family, Helen has never felt like she truly belonged. Not white, not black, she walks a very lonely grey line.

---------

Pepperberry and Pumpkin soup with Wattleseed and Lemon Myrtle Damper from Kuditj Kitchen will be served prior to the film screening  and is included in the ticket price.

There will be a Q and A session following the film with Helen.

Any funds raised from this event will be donated to Healing Foundation a national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation that partners with communities to address the ongoing trauma caused by actions like the forced removal of children from their families.
