What is the Lathlain Park Management Plan?
The Lathlain Park Management Plan (LPMP) was endorsed by the WAPC in 2017 to guide the development of Lathlain Park. It sets out non-statutory planning principles and requirements in relation to land use, access, built form, public realm, landscaping, traffic and transport and governance and management. The LPMP outlines guiding principles for four identified precincts within the broader site, with the land subject to this application falling within Zone 1 – Perth Football Club. its use. These uses include the addition of West Coast Eagles AFLW and WAFL teams, competitive matches by the West Coast Eagles for crowds of up to 6,500, and the potential expansion of the Perth Football Club to include women’s football. In light of this, the Town recently conducted a review of the 2017 LPMP and the draft Management Plan has been updated to reflect the development and growth of the park since the last plan was endorsed. Why do the existing Grandstand and Facilities need to be redeveloped?
The existing grandstand and associated buildings were constructed in the mid - late 1950s and are now out-of-step with contemporary facilities of its kind across the metropolitan area. The existing grandstand no longer meets sporting code or accessibility standards and is overdue for an upgrade, as well as opportunity to cater for women's teams.
