The Town has received a development application for the above development. The value of the development is estimated to be $24 million.

 

The proposed redevelopment will involve the demolition of the existing building and grandstand used by Perth Football Club, and the construction of a new building including a grandstand and other facilities for their use, as well as a community space to be managed by the Town.

 

The proposed development is summarised as follows: 

  • Accessed from Goddard Street, and to be located just north of the existing grandstand
  • The building contains three distinct levels: oval level, Goddard Street level and upper Grandstand level.
  • Oval level - contains facilities for Perth Football Club, and include changerooms, training / warm up areas and wet areas.
  • Goddard Street level – contains facilities for Perth Football Club including the main grandstand (800 seats), main lounge area / function space, members bar and commercial kitchen; also includes a community space to be managed by the Town.
  • Upper Grandstand level - contains facilities for Perth Football Club including coaching and supporting staff boxes, office space and media / board room
  • Seating capacity of the grandstand will reduce from 1,000 seats down to approx. 800 seats.
  • On-street parking bays are provided along Goddard Street including 16 bays for Perth Football Club, 1 accessible bay, 2 drop-off / pick-up bays and 4 loading / service bays.
  • Removal of two existing trees
  • Demolition of the existing grandstand to be staged and occur following completion of the new building.

The Lathlain Park Management Plan guides the development, use and management of Lathlain Park. The proposal is located within the Management Plan’s Zone 1 – Perth Football Club, and the development is generally consistent with the planning principles of this zone.

In accordance with Local Planning Policy 37 – “Community Consultation on Planning Proposals” the development is classed as a significant application. The Town of Victoria Park is inviting you to provide comments on the proposal.
