The Town's recruitment process

Thank you for your interest in applying for a role with the Town of Victoria Park! Below is information on what your application should include, how to lodge it with the Town and what happens after that. 

What you should include

Cover letter

Demonstrating your suitability for the role based on the requirements in the position description.

Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Outlining your personal details, relevant work history, qualifications and education. You will need to provide at least two referees.

Supporting attachments

Photocopies of your qualification/s or academic records of current studies should be attached to your application. Do not submit original copies. Relevant work history should commence with the most recent position you have held as well as the dates/period of employment. In the description of your work history, give a brief summary of the duties and responsibilities for each of the positions.

Closing date

Vacancies are advertised for a specific period and close at 4pm on the closing date shown in the advertisement. Late applications will not be accepted. 

Avoid conflict of interest

Canvassing of elected members will automatically disqualify applicants.

What happens next?

Selection for interviews

A panel will shortlist those applicants for interview who demonstrate they meet the requirements for the job. Shortlisting may take up to two weeks after the closing date. If you are selected for an interview, the Town will contact you to organise a convenient time to be interviewed.

During the interview

Interviews will be conducted by the same interview panel and each applicant will be assessed in the same manner. The aim is to obtain an applicant’s suitability for the position, based on examples of past situations, how the situation was handled and the outcome. During the interview, panel members will take notes and assess your answers to questions.

If you are shortlisted for a position, you may be required to provide/attend:

  • Pre-employment medical at the Town’s expense
  • National Police clearance
  • Proof of age
  • Evidence of legal entitlement to work in Australia
  • Original or certified copies of all relevant qualifications
  • Working with Children check if employed in child-related work
